Why has Idea Transform been created?
Advances in technology, from the internet and social networks to mobile phones, have the potential to deliver a meaningful impact on the lives of millions of people, both in the UK and across the globe. These projects and applications can make a long term, sustainable difference to the world we live in.
While many projects are already delivering a positive impact they are just the tip of the iceberg. Thousands of brilliant ideas that can make a real difference are never developed or fail through a lack of the right skills or help at crucial points.
Idea Transform is a partner initiative of non-profit Future Business, been created in partnership with the University of Cambridge’s Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (CfEL) to support these innovative ideas, and to help the entrepreneurs behind them nurture and grow them into sustainable, profitable businesses.
Idea Transform is based in Cambridge, one of the world’s leading hotbeds of innovation, and is open to all meaningful projects. We believe that over the course of a year we can help at least one team (and there’s no upper limit!) to refine and develop its idea into a profitable and meaningful enterprise that goes on to change the world for the better.
What does Idea Transform do?
Many ideas simply do not get the support they need to get off the ground – or receive the early stage guidance necessary to help them focus their idea to provide the best chance of achieving success. Idea Transform is able to support the entire early stage lifecycle of projects through a phased series of events, supported by focused mentoring, and through helping connect individuals and teams with people, programmes and resources that can help.
Where does Idea Transform work?
So far, we have held events in Cambridge and Oxford, and we have another ten events being planned – open events, restricted and private events, events focused on sectors such as healthcare and challenges such as exploiting space technologies for terrestrial applications. There are a number of ways to keep in touch, or email jeremy[at]ideatransform.org if you would like to work with us on a new event.
